Overview

The University of Rhode Island is a large public school, established in 1888, which now boasts over 13,000 undergraduates. Originally designated as an agricultural school, the university has expanded over the years to include well-regarded programs in diverse areas such as engineering, architecture, nursing, and environmental and natural resource economics. The URI Rams have enjoyed success in basketball and other sports as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference, though the school plays football as part of the Colonial Athletic Association.
