Overview

The University of Missouri opened its doors in 1839 and was the first public university west of the Mississippi. Mizzou’s academic offerings are diverse to say the least – agriculture, arts and science, business, education, journalism, law, medicine, nursing, public affairs and veterinary medicine. The university’s Tigers recently took a step up to the powerful Southeastern Conference for most sports; and the football and basketball teams are usually among the better teams in the country.
