Overview

UCSC was founded less than 50 years ago and makes its home just off of Highway 1 between San Francisco and Monterey. It may be no exaggeration to claim the campus is among the most beautiful in the world. The school is large (about 16,000 undergraduates) but has a small- school feel. In addition, sustainability and environmental consciousness are important to the UCSC culture. The school hosts the Grateful Dead archives. UCSC’s teams are nicknamed the Banana Slugs.
