Overview

Located in the rolling hills of New York’s Southern Tier, Binghamton University was established in 1946 as a branch of Syracuse University to provide educational opportunities for veterans returning from World War II. The main road on campus forms the outline of a cerebrum and cerebellum, and is thus nicknamed “The Brain.” Binghamton offers its nearly 12,000 undergrads a wide variety of majors. Binghamton Bearcats basketball had enjoyed a great deal of success in recent years, until a series of scandals sidetracked the program.
