Students at Hunter College of the City University of New York can take pride in attending a school with a distinguished history. Established in 1870 as a public teachers’ college for women, Hunter has focused from the start on diversity and academic rigor. Hunter became co-ed in 1950, the same year CCNY became fully co-ed. Hunter is a very selective, diverse school, with a student body which is 66% women and around 50% minority.
